1. September 8, 1866. Full Front page
“Pictures of the South – Magnolia Grove, on the Shell Road at Mobile, Alabama
On the reverse are several articles: The True Issue, Satraps & Dependents, A Retired Statesman
upon the President, Is it Just or Right? The Executive Power, and The Cholera Campaign
2. July 7, 1866. Double page Map titled ‘The Impending War. Map of Middle Europe, its Railroads etc.’
The Austro-Prussian War of 1866 between Prussia on the one side and Austria, Bavaria, Saxony, Hanover, and certain minor German states on the other. It ended in a Prussian victory, which meant the exclusion of Austria from Germany.
This is a very detailed map of Western Europe from Rouen in the West to Cracow in the East. And also includes the SouthEast section of England.
On the reverse page there’s an article “The Immediate Occasions of the Present Conflict”

Also “A Copperhead Hiss” with recommendations for the US President. And two articles on health and avoiding cholera.
5. January 13, 1866 Mounted Messengers Attacked by Indians on the Plains
On the reverse page there’s an article titled “The Labor Question at the South” and other interesting content

from an avid collector & dealer of Scarce Paper Americana in the late 1900s.
They include newspapers, documents, books, maps and images,
with a focus on the civil war era and before. All items are genuine originals.
We do not handle copies or reproductions of any items
Unlike modern paper items, early newspapers & documents made before 1880
generally remain in very nice condition even after centuries of aging
The reason for this is that these early paper items were made with pure cotton & linen,
whereas modern paper is made with wood fiber that often rapidly discolors and gets weak & brittle
